Before last Saturday, it had been years since I had my last real night on the town. Since my tiny little dictator was born, my partying has been limited to getting a slight buzz at the Macaroni Grill, and having a bit too much wine in my living room and tripping over the step that leads up into my kitchen.
But this weekend, we celebrated one of my longest-standing and dearest friends. She is getting married in May. For her bachelorette/birthday celebration, we classed it up and had a good old-fashioned night on the town.
Turns outs, your early thirties is the perfect time to have a night out followed by an adult sleepover. We’re young enough that we’re still okay with eating dinner at 9:00pm and old enough that we don’t have to wear penises around our neck to feel that we nailed the whole bachelorette party thing.
We went the whole nine yards, including getting ready in the hotel before we went out. I had flashbacks to 11th grade, when we spread out our makeup on the bathroom vanity, Janet Jackson playing somewhere in the background. Thankfully, we get to drink actual booze now, while we put on our makeup and curl our hair together. Whatever booze we want.
We chose mimosas that night, because what’s classier than a mimosa? I wish I could remember the glorious concoction that my friend whipped up for us that night, but let’s just say, I found out why I don’t drink heavily anymore. Things get hazy. So, I have rounded up some of the most gorgeous mimosa recipes the web has to offer. If you haven’t had a night out and a girly sleepover with your girlfriends in years, I highly recommend you get a hotel room immediately, order Cards Against Humanity, and setup a mimosa bar with all the fixings to make these delightful cocktails.
